App usability testing
Context
The OVO energy app had gone through various rounds of changes mainly because of a back-end platform upgrade. Those changes were feature-lead based on the capabilities of the new platform and analytics showed that some of the metrics we were tracking had been affected.
As a result, I set out to test if the new app was still fit for purpose. I started off creating a research canvas which I shared with relevant stakeholders to inform them of what I was planning to research, recruitment needs, and to check if there was anything that can be changed or added to the research goals.

preparing the participants
To make sure all the participants were fully aware of what the research was about and what was expected from them, I sent out a research agreement that informed them who I was, what the session would cover, technology requirements and compensation for taking part

Writing the discussion guide
I shared the discussion guide with the team as I was editing it. I also run mock sessions to stress test its versatility.

Research day
The research was carried out remotely and there was a live feed for the rest of my team to follow. This allowed everyone to capture notes on the session via Trello. This gave us the benefit of keeping everything online and sharable. And once the day was over and we started started affinity mapping the notes, Trello made the whole process much easier.
